Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (Rtd) continue to take a dig at the striking doctors; according to him the doctors should have opted to be footballers if they want to enrich themselves.
Speaking on Starr FM Thursday, the former Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces said the doctors are choosing money over their profession which is an essential service.
“These professions are a calling, when I joined the army to die to save Ghana it wasn't because of the money…so when you want to be a doctor you must survive but money shouldn't be sole [reason] of you being a doctor otherwise you go and play football, you go to China and join Asamoah Gyan and make money,” he said.
This is the second time Nunoo-Mensah has slammed the striking doctors; the last time he spoke about their strike he called the bluff of the doctors and asked them to hand over the keys to their bungalows when they resign en masse.
Doctors in the public sector laid down their tools two weeks ago and have vowed to resign en masse Friday, August 14, if government fails to yield to their demands.
Meanwhile,President Mahama on Wednesday described the strike as “absolutely illegal” adding government would not be forced to kowtow to the “outrageous demands” of the doctors.
