Is Shatta Wale saying “4 More for Nana” with his four watches?
Controversial musician, Shatta Wale born Charles Nii Armah Mensah has stirred controversy with a picture in which he is wearing four expensive watches, two on both wrists.
The picture has been interpreted by some supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to mean an endorsement of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s bid for a second term.
The NPP’s slogan, “4more for Nana to do more”, has caught on with many, with party loyalists constantly writing it on mainly social media to drum home their points, MyNewsGh.com reports.
While Shatta Wale‘s picture spotting four watches has been seen as a tacit endorsement of the NPP by party supporters, those opposed to the NPP disagree, arguing that it is a mere coincidence.
Shatta Wale had in a television interview much earlier before the controversial picture called on Ghanaians to praise the President for his efforts at developing the country, especially with respect to the implementation of the free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
Recently, it came to light that Shatta Wale has been contracted as a brand ambassador of the Ghana Exim Bank to promote made in Ghana goods. The contract allegedly earned the Dancehall maestro some GHC 2 million.
The revelations has set tongues wagging; some people have alleged that Shatta Wale’s softened stance against the ruling NPP, which he had chastised in the past, was as a result of the huge amount allegedly paid to him for his ambassadorial role, which is yet to even begin.
Others have kicked against the suggestion, saying that Shatta Wale deserves the amount because of his star power.
Shatta Wale is yet to personally react to the matter of his ambassadorial role.
