“A Studio Will Be Built In The Northern Region” – Mark Okraku Mantey Assures

Mark Okraku-Mantey, the Deputy Minister-designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture, has announced that an ultra-modern recording studio will be erected in Ghana's northern region under his supervision.

When asked about the importance of the Northern region, he stated that many Ghanaians' perceptions of Northerners changed after artist Fancy Gadam defied convention by selling out the National Theatre with his concert.

“Years ago, we saw the Northern section of Ghana and Ashanti from afar. Our vision of what happens in the north has shifted since the appearance of a young guy named Fancy Gadam. He came to the capital, put on his own show, and packed the National Theatre,” he told the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

“We had no choice but to take him seriously because we had never seen anything like it before. After that, we provided him special attention in the north, so… Dr Awal has plans to open a studio in the north to help these young men and women who are interested in the arts,” he added.
