Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko, popularly known as OV, the Ghanaian musician, has resurfaced on social media after a long absence from the music business.
OV recorded her debut single with Reynolds the Gentleman, a multi-instrumentalist and producer, after getting discovered on Instagram with a song titled “Nea Woyeyi.”
Her second song, “Kambu,” which was produced by Standec and released on December 4, 2017, established her as a household name among university institutions. Her third song, “Ma Mind Dey,” featured Epixode, a well-known Dancehall/Reggae singer. She went on to record soul versions of Stonebwoy’s “Tomorrow” and “Gbedegbede,” which attracted Stonebwoy’s interest and led to his signing her to his label.
Unfortunately for her, Black Cedi, who was Stonebwoy’s manager at the time, had a falling out with Stonebwoy, prompting Black Cedi to sign Kelvynboy and Ov to his new label.
After leaving Stonebwoy’s label, little was heard from Ov until she suddenly returned in the public eye. She appeared to be extremely confident and collected in a recent Instagram image.
She wrote: There was no one near to confuse me, so i was forced to become original.
