Hon. Paskal A.B Rois Pays Courtesy Call On CEO of Petroleum Commission Ghana
The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia, Hon Paskal A. B. Rois on Thursday, 4th November, 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Petroleum Commission, Ghana, Mr. Egbert Faibille Jnr to further cement on-going discussions on the available investment opportunities in the country's upstream oil and gas sector which Indonesia is willing to take advantage of.
The courtesy call was a follow-up to an earlier two-hour virtual meeting held at the instance of the Indonesian Consulate in Accra on Thursday, 28th October, 2021 between officials of the Petroleum Commission as well as the leadership of one of Indonesia's state-owned giant oil and gas company, PT. Pertamina.
The two leaders used the opportunity to discuss among other things skills and technology transfer as well as other related opportunities Indonesia could make available for the benefit of the two sister nations.
Hon. Paskal A. B. Rois and Mr. Egbert Faibille Jnr also discussed plans to enable officials of the Commission to travel to Indonesia within the shortest period of time not only to visit Pertamina's oil and gas facility sites but also affirm all discussions so far held in connection with getting investment from Indonesia into the Ghanaian oil and gas industry. The Honorary Consul used the occasion to appeal to the Petroleum Commission Boss to consider an educational partnership between the two sister nations, where experts and professionals from the Commission and its affiliates could be sent to the Pertamina University in Indonesia for further studies in oil and gas especially in welding and fabrication thereby ending up developing and expanding the local content in Ghana. This, Hon. Rois noted would go a long way to complement a similar already existing partnership the Commission has with Canada.
The Honorary Consul informed the Petroleum Commission CEO of the Indonesia KNB Scholarship which many high school graduates and Ghanaian university graduates including those working in the petroleum industry could benefit from in order to pursue all manner of academic programmes, fully sponsored and paid for by the Indonesian government. He also disclosed that to go to Indonesia as a Ghanaian is visa-free, adding that this has resulted from the political and bi-lateral trade relations the two countries have enjoyed over the years.
Mr. Ergert Faibille Jnr, for his part, was not only grateful for the visit of the Consul but also for the confidence Indonesia has in Ghana and her economy. He also thanked Hon. Paskal A.B. Rois for facilitating the earlier business virtual meeting between his outfit and Pertamina and also for his efforts so far at selling Ghana to Indonesia and the world at large. This, he observed would greatly improve upon the already existing bond of cordial relationship between the two sister countries.
Mr. Faibille Jnr expressed interest in obtaining the educational opportunities from the Pertamina University in Indonesia to adequately train and prepare experts to support the development of Ghana's oil and gas sector.
The CEO said he looked forward for a more effective collaboration between the Petroleum Commission and the Indonesian Consulate in Accra so as to further deepen South-South co-operation and trade between Accra and Jakarta.
Present at the meeting included the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Prince Benjamin Aboagye, the Manager, Geosciences Department of the Commission, Dr. Isaac A. Oppong as well as the Manager, Projects Evaluation and Economics, Mr. Ebenezer Harmah.
