How Beyonce Sampled Esther Smith’s ‘Ensuro’ For Her Lion King Album Surfaces Online (Video)

The Lion King album, by the world's biggest living entertainer, Beyonce Gissele Carter, released in 2019, featured tons of African artists, and ace Ghanaian gospel act Esther Smith was considered for one of the biggest music projects.

In an ABC documentary created and executive-produced by Beyonce, a member of her crew was shown looking up the artist and album for Esther Smith's song “ensuro.”

A woman of Ghanaian ancestry thought to be from her firm, Parkwood Entertainment, was observed calling her grandmother in Ghana to find out who the artist of the “Ensuro” song is and what album she might locate it on.

Her grandmother was powerless to help, referring her granddaughter to the internet because she had no knowledge. The lady chuckled, implying that this had already been attempted but failed.

We could tell from the documentary that many African musicians were considered for the project, so we assumed there was no need to waste time enquiring about the song, especially given Parkwood's secrecy about their initiative, so we didn't contemplate an open inquiry.

Beyonce has a new album out. On September 16, 2019, Beyoncé launched the behind-the-scenes TV special Beyoncé Presents: Making the Gift, which chronicles the album's production and her travels to Africa.
