2022 Grammys Postponed

Published

on

The 2022 GRAMMYs have been postponed, according to a joint statement from the Recording Academy and its television partner, CBS. The decision was made due to concerns about people's health and safety.

As the globe watches coronavirus numbers rise, actions are being taken to guarantee the situation does not worsen, necessitating the need to postpone the event, but no new date has been set.

The performance was originally set to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on January 31, 2022.

The statement made on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 said: “The Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual Awards Show after careful study and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community, and our numerous partners.”

“The health and safety of our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work diligently to create our concert is our first concern,” the statement said. Because of the uncertainties surrounding the Omicron version, hosting the concert on January 31st is simply too risky. We are looking forward to enjoying Music's Biggest Night on a future date to be announced shortly.

The 64th Awards nominees were announced in November of last year, with Ghana's Rocky Dawuni taking home his second award, following a first in 2015.
