“We Don’t Even Support Ourselves So Why Do We Complain When Nigerians Don’t Support Us” – Epixode

Ghanaian dancehall performer has replied to the discussion over Nigerian musicians not treating Ghanaians equally.

In an interview with GNA Entertainment, the reigning reggae/dancehall artist of the year suggested that if Nigerians do not open theirs, Ghanaians should close theirs.

“If Nigerians refuse to open their music spaces to Ghanaian musicians, we should close ours as well.”

He also chastised several of his coworkers for failing to back him up.

Because certain Ghanaian musicians don't help one another, there's no reason to complain about a lack of support from Nigerian musicians.

It's not really a problem for me that Nigerians support our music. We can all see how Nigeria has developed a robust music business that has dominated the continent and even the world. It's not just in music; it's also in other creative arts fields like movies and comedy, to name a few.

“So, if they're not opening their music area for us, we might as well close ours.” We might as well not book them if they don't book us for performances, and we don't need Nigerians to be the greatest at what we do.

An example is the East African music business, which always supports its own, with artists like Diamond Platnumz achieving large numbers on different streaming platforms, even surpassing major Nigerian artists.”

“The most essential issue is how Ghanaian artists support themselves and because we don't even support ourselves to the point where we have to complain about Nigerian assistance,” continued.
