Eugene Kwame Marfo, also known as Kuami Eugene, a Lynx Entertainment signee, has spoken out about his hopes for the just-ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2022.
According to the Highlife crooner, he had great aspirations of walking away with the Highlife Artiste of the year title as well as the Collaboration of the year award, but his ambitions were dashed.
Kuami Eugene stated to Sammy Forson on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz that he was especially eyeing the collaboration of the year since he had done a lot of features in the year under review and virtually all of his features were successful songs but none of the songs received an award during the night show.
However, lamenting about this before was meaningless because it was an award show and he had no control over the outcome.
“It wasn’t even my songs. These were songs that I was featured on. Look at the songs that I was featured on, from Yeeko to Biibi Besi to Abodie, and none of those songs had an award. But then again it’s VGMA and we have limited power when it comes to VGMA,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kuami Eugene has said that he was the ghostwriter for one of West Africa’s most hit songs.
Rockstar Eugene revealed in an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM Drive that he composed a successful song for a well-known Nigerian musician, one of Africa’s most viral songs.
This song has gone popular on TikTok, but the artist’s identity and the title of the song remain unknown.
“I don’t regret creating the song for the Nigerian musician since I got paid very well,” Kuami Eugene said.
