KiDi claimed that his mother used to play him songs to help him figure out and choose the path he should take in his musical career in a Twitter Space interview with @OleleSalvador.
According to Kidi, his mother used to play him songs by the popular Nigerian artist Banky W and advise him to concentrate on those in order to hone his musical abilities.
The “Touch It” hitmaker also mentioned that he took inspiration from some of the biggest names in music, like Tuface Idibia and the legendary P-Square, who had R&B origins but blended native sounds into their songs to make them sound cohesive.
However, blending Ghanaian and R&B sounds together made him lose his fanbase on Twitter, and at one point he became afraid of receiving criticism from his followers for changing his musical style.
Then, he had to give up his Fan base in order to let the entire world rock to his music, and over time, he hoped that his Twitter followers would grow to appreciate his new genre of music.
