Veteran Ghanaian Highlife singer, Ofori Amponsah, revealed in an interview that he would never again help musicians in rising to fame if he could turn back time.
Many young musicians in Ghana who are now well-known thanks to the assistance of these legends were formerly held in the hands of a number of legendary artists in Ghana throughout the course of their careers.
Some people, however, have shown to be unappreciative of their mentors.
The well-known singer and songwriter Ofori Amponsah revealed in a recent interview on XYZ TV that if he could go back in time, he would decide never to support any musicians again in his career.
Ofori Amponsah revealed this by talking about his unpleasant encounters with several individuals in the music business.
“It came to a point in my life that some situations I was going through spiritually were massive. I saw that if I didn’t run to God I would die. There are a lot of pressures when it comes to this music industry.” he recounts.
He said that he was being pursued by artists he had previously helped when the presenter inquired whether he had been spiritually assaulted as a result of whatever he had done or in which he had become involved.
These musicians, he claimed, were “crossing his path” and attempting to quench his fire to create and distribute more music.
He used specific instances to illustrate his thesis, saying that whenever he was asked to perform at a show, he would demand GH20,000 but only receive GH2000, which was a sign that his worth was declining. He claimed that he believed people he helped were behind the attack.
