Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta wale, has reached a remarkable professional milestone.
You may recall that Beyonce, a well-known American singer, songwriter, producer, and actress, collaborated with the Ghanaian diva on the masterpiece “Already” in 2019.
The song, “Already,” which also includes Major Lazer, is a single from Beyonce’s studio album, “The Lion King: The Gift,” and it appears in the upcoming drama “Black Is King.”
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the groovy jam as gold on Monday, August 8, 2022, after it sold over 500,000 units in the US. Shatta Wale’s achievement in being the first Ghanaian performer to receive a gold certification is significant.
The Recording Industry Association of America Gold and platinum certification program was created to honour artists and track sound recording sales. It has also become the benchmark defining success in the recorded music industry.
The song, ‘Already’ won the 2022 Best Collaboration of the Year award at the 18th Urban Music Awards and 6th annual AEAUSA. In 2020, the song won Best Collaboration at the 2020 BreakTudo Awards.
