The New Patriotic Party (NPP), which went on to win the 2020 presidential election, received Nicholas’ vote and support as a 35-year-old teacher. Nicholas alleges that due of his political participation, he is in danger.
He claims that his NPP campaign caused people to believe that he was partly to blame for their current financial difficulties.
In case he is followed and attacked, Nicholas always wears a nose mask and cap when he leaves the house.
In an interview with Armstrong Alogbor of TV3, he declared, “The danger is my biggest concern.” I have to cover up while I’m in public by donning a nasal mask and, occasionally, a cap.
“Sometimes, I will be in the room, Friday, Saturday, Sunday without going out because I am afraid if I step out I don’t know what will happen to me. The moment they see you they are angry and they want to beat you because you are part of the reasons why they are suffering. Sometimes they will call you and threaten you.
“Sometimes my wife will [tell] me, when [I] am going and [I] have the money I should take take Uber and go out.”
He further indicated that he was paid ¢300for the billboard advert he did for the party.
“I was paid ¢300 for that billboard,” he said.
