I’m one of the best songwriters Ghana has ever produced – Kweku Darlington
According to Kweku Darlington, Ghanaians are underrating Daddy Lumba’s songwriting abilities just as they did when the highlife legend first emerged.
The popular song “Sika Aba Fie,” performed by Ghanaian musician Emmanuel Kweku Owusu Darlington (also known as Kweku Darlington), marked his breakthrough. Asakaa, Kweku Darlington, one of the promoters of Ghana Drill music, has artists like Fameye, Kuami Eugene, Yaw Tog, and Kweku Flick on his debut remix.
Kweku Darlington reiterated on Onua FM’s Adwuma-Adwuma that Ghanaians do not recognize his talent enough. In order to illustrate his point, he cited Daddy Lumba, the highlife legend who experienced the same dismissal in his early career.
“At the time Daddy Lumba started, we didn’t see him as a legend. It is now that we are seeing and appreciating his talent.”
Ghanaians have received authentic sounds from Kweku Darlington over the years, including Rap, Hiplife, Highlife, and Drill music. His ability to create fresh, enduring sounds, including timeless songs like “Sika Kankan,” “Baabi Awu,” and “Onipa,” led Okyeame Kwame, Ghana’s rap doctor, to support him.
Kweku Darlington concluded his statement by saying, “As for me, I’m saying it here. Whether you like it or not, Ghana is home to one of the greatest songwriters in history, and the world is watching.
The song “Osama” by Kweku Darlington is currently available for streaming on all digital platforms. If you listen, please tell us if he truly is Ghana’s best songwriter.
