The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Secretariat (NSS), Alex Opoku-Mensah, was accused of assaulting a nurse on duty at the Manhyia Government Hospital in Kumasi.
The attack was allegedly in response to the nurse’s alleged intimidation of his daughter, who is undergoing his medical horsemanship.
His daughter, who happened to be in the same hospital, had told him about the nurse he accused of intimidating his daughter at the hospital.
In an audio recording, the enraged NSS director is heard hurling insults at the nurse, describing her as an unqualified nurse who gained admission to nursing training school through sexual favors.

In the most recent development, Alex Opoku-Mensah has apologized unequivocally for verbally abusing a nurse at Manhyia Hospital.
The Nurse overturned his daughter’s incorrect prescription for a two-year-old convulsion patient.
Mr Opoku-Mensah stated on Facebook that the method he used to deal with the conflict between his daughter, a doctor, and the nurse “has never been my style.”
He attempted to mediate the dispute between the two because he considered the nurse involved to be his daughter as well.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has issued a statement demanding that Mr Opoku-Mensah be removed from office immediately for his misbehavior.
“The Public Services Commission and Government for that matter should sack the said Regional Director immediately because he is not fit for the director position he holds in public service.
“He had absolutely no right to enter Manhyia hospital and verbally abuse and threaten the nurse in question who was on duty at the time,” the statement read.
