Wizkid is on the rise following a recent heated interview in which he criticized the rap genre and declared that Afrobeats is now the King of music genres in Nigeria.
Born Ayodeji Balogun, the Nigerian superstar claimed rap music is dead and uninteresting, which is why he doesn’t listen to it.
The multi-award-winning artist stated recently in an interview with 10 magazines that “Afrobeats is the new pop.” In America, I made two million dollars off just one song! Even some American musicians lack a diamond album. If I’m being really honest, I no longer listen to any other type of music.
Rap is uninteresting to me, so I don’t listen to it. It is now exhausted and lifeless. These people perform the same crap and rap using the same beats and flows, Wizkid added.
