Ghanaians Thank Dede Ayew For Saving The Black Stars From Humiliation Against Brazil
As Brazil humiliated South Korea in the round of sixteen games of the ongoing Qatar 2022 World Cup on Monday night, social media users seemed to extol the virtues of every setback being a blessing in disguise.
Brazil had scored four goals by halftime against the South Koreans, who were ahead of the Black Stars, and on Twitter, several supporters claimed that Ghana’s Black Stars, who would have faced Brazil had the team advanced out of the group stage, would have been on the losing end. Therefore, they were happy that the squad had been eliminated from the competition.
The Black Stars needed a victory over Uruguay in their last group match in order to advance to the round of 16. Therefore, early in the game, Ghana was awarded a penalty.
Dede Ayew, the captain, chose to take the penalty kick. He missed the penalty, and Ghana later gave up two goals. Uruguay won the match 2:0, but they were unable to advance and lost their position to South Korea in the next round.
Below are a few of the thank you messages to Dede Ayew:
