Blakk Rasta To Return All Awards He Has Won Over The Years Back To Organisers

Blakk Rasta, the radio host, and musician from Ghana is giving back all of the awards he has ever won from various competitions throughout the years.

He, who has consistently spoken against “voting to win” at awards ceremonies, made the revelation in a video uploaded to Instagram.

“I seldom ever do something like this, but occasionally, you know, we just need to provide some answers.” I have often said that I do not want to participate in any award program that involves casting votes in order to win.

“In my opinion, that amounts to purchasing votes.” Now, if you have an award program, you nominate some people and then ask the supporters of these nominees to vote so that their favorite performer can win. “Then you go ahead and tell them that the more you vote, the more you elevate your artist to winning, and if the artist doesn't win, the biggest excuse they typically give is that your people didn't vote,” he shared.

He acknowledged that, in the past, he had been unaware of the fact that these awards were purchased and that deserving people were denied the opportunity to be recognized for their accomplishments.

Blakk Rasta claims that he prays for everyone to eventually reach the same consciousness as him.

Therefore, winning an award is decided by public vote; merits are no longer relevant. Even if you are the best, if your people do not vote, you will still be the worst. I thus made the decision to stop taking part in this. It's finished and put away.

“We used to be a part of it. However, as we became cognizant, we made the decision that it was finished and that we would never do it again. Many people still haven't attained that level of awareness. Everyone has their time; therefore, I don't blame them. Their moment will arrive, he continued.
