Court Fines Shatta Wale, Deportee, And Others
Three people who helped renowned dancehall artist Shatta Wale spread false information about him, including that he had been shot, were punished by an Accra Circuit Court.
On October 18, 2021, Shatta Wale posted on social media that he had been shot as a result of a prophecy made by a prophet headquartered in Accra.
Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope; Iddrisu Yussif, also known as Deportee; and Eric Venator, also known as Gangee, were all brought before the court on Friday, December 16, 2022, and they all entered guilty pleas to accusations of aiding and abetting a crime.
Mrs. Kizita Naa Kowah Quarshie then found them guilty based on their own admission and fined them GHC 960.00 apiece. A two-week jail sentence would be imposed for nonpayment.
Shatta Wale was also fined GHC 2,000 on June 29, 2022, for spreading misleading information. After changing his plea from not guilty to guilty, this became clear.
The “On God” hitmaker was sentenced to three months in jail in the event of a default.
