Michael Owusu Addo, better known as Sarkodie, has disclosed that he almost declined the chance to participate in the remake of Bob Marley's timeless song “Stir It Up.”

On Friday, January 20, 2023, the song was made available on all streaming media sites.

The Ghanaian singer stated during a discussion on the well-known +44 Podcast that he didn't feel deserving of having his voice on the same tune as the iconic reggae hero.

“When I got the email, I almost sent it because, aside from respect for the great, I felt unworthy of sharing the song with him.” I was pretty severe on myself,” he said to podcast host Sideman.

While considering abandoning the project, continued, “My manager was saying this is a tremendous opportunity.” However, my creative side was more focused on the opportunity than the work.

He claimed that he just began to consider and imagine what he could achieve after being handed the original recording Bob Marley made while in the studio.

The singer of “Non Living Thing” remarked, “When I was listening to it (Bob Marley's singing), it was a really spiritual experience.”
