I Will Choose George Weah Over Ronaldo – Asamoah Gyan Says In An Interview

In an interview with TV3, Asamoah Gyan claims that George Weah would rank higher than Cristiano Ronaldo on his list of the greatest footballers ever. 

The seasoned striker thinks that because Weah is the only African to have won the Ballon d’Or, people view him differently than they might other winners. 

One of football’s leading characters in the 1990s was Weah, who represented Liberia while playing and is today the president of that nation. 

When asked who he would rank higher on his list of all-time great players, Gyan responded that he would choose Weah over Ronaldo. 

In the interview, the former Sunderland and Al Ahly attacker remarked, “I have to pick George Weah.” 

“He is the only African who has won the Ballon d’Or.” And then, in his time, there were a lot of durable defenders. “No disrespect to this generation, but those times [had better defenders].”
