Over the weekend, Ghanaians were happy to see their very own Edem, Stonebwoy, and Kidi at the just-ended biggest award show in the world, as people think it's a great start to connect Ghanaian music more to the global world.
But Derrick Manny's comment concerning rapper Edem's appearance at the Grammys alongside Stonebwoy and Kidi has been awful and has received massive backlash from social media users, the rapper himself, and fellow musicians.
Derrick Manny on Sammy Flex's popular show asserted that rapper Edem was not supposed to be at the award show because, no matter how he carries himself at the Grammys, he can't be networked to anybody and may not get that feature because he doesn't look glorified enough to have a feature from there.
His remark irritates Ghanaian rapper Agbeshie, who has taken to Facebook to attack Derrick Man, who has spoken ill of his godfather and the man who has spent more than a decade of his life putting Ghanaian and Ewe music on the global map.
In response to the controversy, the wrowroho hitamker stated that he does not blame the entertainment pundit, but rather Sammy Flex for creating a brand with his name and allowing anyone to come live and demolish people's hard-earned brands.
Moving on, he described Derrick Manny as foolish and empty-headed, and he asked if everybody who went to the awards went there because they wanted to seek collaboration from other renown musicians? He also described Derrick Manny as one of those who cause confusion among musicians by making pointless comparisons.
Ending, the Ewe gang boss, called on the entertainment critic to grow up because, regardless of his comment, we cannot take out the fact that Edem is one of the biggest musicians we have in the country, and henceforth, he and other artists from the Volta region would not take such nonsense from any entertainment critic. However, he has called on Derrick Manny to apologize to the “Toto” hitmaker.
