An artist's refusal to agree to perform for free at specific events has been lamented by the former head of 3 Network.

His statement follows a discussion on encouraging a “no fee for performance” approach for various events in Ghana.

claimed that some events are not for profit and that the musicians booked to play must work out financial arrangements with the event organizers.

He suggested that in addition to actual money, artists should consider the value that platforms provide to them.

But he pointed out that the goal of Ghana's music industry has traditionally been to support musicians rather than event organizers, which he says is bad news for the sector as a whole.
