In order to honor the late football player Christian Atsu, former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah has declared that a significant monument has to be erected in his hometown.
Given the peculiar circumstances of the former Black Stars winger’s death, in his opinion, the call is imperative.
The person who offered Atsu his first chance to play for the senior national team insisted that anything the country can do to honor the late athlete should be placed in his hometown so that it can serve as an example for the village’s children.
He told Onua FM that given how he passed away and the fact that he had represented his country, “I will say that we should put something in his village to honor him so that when the youngsters in the village see it, they will know there was once a guy from this place who got this far.”
