Actor, philanthropist, and comedian Michael Blackson asserted that there are only four superstars in Ghana, unlike in Nigeria, and legendary Ghanaian sound engineer Zapp Mallet has defended him.

In a recent interview on the well-known American podcast “Drink Champions,” the well-known American comedian sparked a significant uproar by claiming that Ghana could only boast of four music superstars, compared to Nigeria's eight.

, Stonebwoy, Black Sheriff, and were identified by Michael Blackson as the only superstars.

Zapp Mallet, who was expressing his opinion on Michael Blackson's claim on, claimed that the American comedian was telling the truth.

The renowned sound engineer claims that many artists are succeeding beyond expectations but that the media has only chosen to focus on the four named performers.

Let's put the media to blame. This is very problematic since the media has made it seem like these artists are the only talented ones Ghana has.

The experienced sound engineer refused to name the artists he feels are being ignored by the media, saying instead, “There are many musicians who also deserve the excitement that Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Black Sheriff are relishing.”
