We Need More Slots For Reggae Music – Ras Kuuku Tells VGMA

Ras Kuuku, the Reggae Artiste of the Year for the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), has pleaded for more space for reggae music in award programs and in the media.

Ras Kuuku noted that reggae music expresses and concentrates on positive things but is not given much attention in the country in an interview with Graphic Showbiz.

Also, he complained, “We only have a limited amount of slots in our award schemes, and I want to beg the award organizers to give us more.” Reggae music can be promoted by the media by receiving favorable airtime on TV and radio.

“The likes of Stonebwoy, Samini, and Shatta Wale have received fame outside of the nation, but we can project more artistes if we give the genre more attention at home,”

“I'd like to see another organization create a program to recognize reggae performers.” Although it tried its best, the Bass Awards didn't last long. “If another organization decides to honor us in a similar way, I will be pleased to hear it,” he said.
