Lance Reddick, ‘The Wire’ and ‘John Wick’ star, dies at 60

Actor , perhaps best known for his role on “The Wire,” has died at the age of 60, his representatives confirmed Friday.

“Acclaimed actor passed away suddenly this morning from natural causes,” his representatives confirmed to Nexstar. “He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick… Lance will be greatly missed.”

Reddick had a long career in TV and film, but he will most likely be remembered as Lt. Cedric Daniels on “The Wire,” one of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time. 

He also appeared in the “John Wick” franchise and was set to appear as Zeus in next year's “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” on Disney+.

Tributes poured out for Reddick online after news of his death was made public, including from his “Wire” co-stars.

“A man of great strength and grace,” said Wendell Pierce, who played Detective William “Bunk” Moreland. “As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. An sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP.”

Others in the entertainment world also paid compliments to Reddick.

“Lance Reddick was an incredibly nice guy, and an incredibly talented actor. This is heartbreaking. My love goes out to all his family, friends, and collaborators,” director James Gunn tweeted.

Reddick also starred on the Fox series “Fringe” as a special agent Phillip Broyles, the smartly-dressed Matthew Abaddon on “Lost” and played the multi-skilled Continental Hotel concierge Charon in Lionsgate's “John Wick” movies, including the fourth in the series that releases later this month.

“The world of Wick would not be what it is without Lance Reddick and the unparalleled depth he brought to Charon's humanity and unflappable charisma. Lance leaves behind an indelible legacy and hugely impressive body of work, but we will remember him as our lovely, joyful friend and Concierge,” Lionsgate said in a statement.

Reddick earned a SAG Award nomination in 2021 as part of the ensemble for Regina King's film “One Night in Miami.” He played recurring roles on “Intelligence” and “American Horror Story” and was on the show “Bosch” for its seven-year run.

His upcoming projects include 20th Century's remake of “White Men Can't Jump” and “Shirley,” Netflix's biopic of former Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm. He was also slated to appear in the “John Wick” spinoff “Ballerina,” as well as “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.”

The Baltimore-born-and-raised Reddick was a Yale University drama school graduate who enjoyed some success after school by landing guest or recurring roles “CSI: Miami” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” He also appeared in several movies, including “I Dreamed of Africa,” “The Siege” and “Great Expectations.”

Grammy-winning British singer Ed Sheeran has revealed that Barbadian superstar, was the inspiration behind his hit song, ‘Shape Of You.'

He disclosed this in a recent interview with Hits Radio.

‘Shape Of You' was released on 6 January 2017 as one of the lead singles from Ed Sheeran's third studio album, ‘Divide.'

Ed Sheeran also revealed that he wrote Justin Bieber's hit song, ‘Love Yourself.' He said the song was initially rejected by numerous artists.

Pete Davidson explains why he’s done with ‘Bupkis’

Despite being renewed for a second season, “Bupkis” will not be returning to Peacock.

The semi-autobiographical comedy from former “Saturday Night Live” cast member is coming to an end, he confirmed in a statement to Variety.

“I've always seen Bupkis as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family,” Davidson said. “After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way. Of all the work I've ever done, Bupkis is by far what I'm most proud of.”

Davidson also expressed his gratitude “to Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video, Peacock, Universal Television and the amazing cast and writers for helping me create something honest, funny and heartfelt.”

“I do also feel that this part of my life is finished,” Davidson continued. “I'm very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful.”

CNN has reached out to representatives for Davidson.

The series in which Davidson played a fictionalized version of himself premiered last May on the Peacock streaming service and costarred Edie Falco and Joe Pesci.

Davidson also played a version of himself in the Peacock film “The King of Staten Island.”

Sophie's stepfather wrote on the funding page, “On behalf of her Mother & Family, It is with a heavy heart that I have to share the news of our beloved Sophia's Passing. The Sudden loss of Sophia has left her family and friends devastated and in shock.”
