In a widely shared video, Ghanaian singer-songwriter Martin King Arthur, better known by his stage name , pleaded with the nation's Fante Kenkey manufacturers to continue using the old-fashioned technique for packaging the well-known snack.

He asserts that dried plantains enhance the flavor of this dish, which is typically consumed with stew or soup.

He did not waste any time in mentioning the purported health advantages of the leaves used to wrap Fante Kenkey.

The leaves are therapeutic. Our mothers tell us, “You cook it, but we eat it.” To decide on his plastic wrapping, we never had a meeting. It's not what we desire. This isn't what our ancestors left us, he remarked.

The same opinion was echoed by the well-known musician's followers, who added that Ghana should reassess its use of plastic.
