Converting To Islam Has Opened Doors For Me, I Just Can’t Do Certain Things – Akuapem Poloo
In a recent interview with Sammy Kay, Ghanaian actress Haniya Rosemond Brown, better known by her stage name Akuapem Poloo, discussed her personal story of converting from Christianity to Islam as well as the particular difficulties she faced.
The former slay queen admitted that it was difficult for her to get used to Islam since it forbade some of the practices that she was used to as a Christian. She talked about the challenges she faced trying to balance the new rules set forth by her faith with her old, ingrained habits.
According to Poloo, going to the mosque has had a big impact on her outlook on life and how she acts, making it difficult for her to continue doing the crazy dances and twerking that were a part of her old identity.
Her attempt to connect her behaviors with her newly discovered religious views has been hampered by this internal conflict between her past and current selves.
Despite the difficulties, Poloo said that accepting Islam has given her new opportunities. The National Chief Imam is a respected member of the Islamic community, and she expressed her tremendous delight in finally realizing her lifelong desire to meet him. She got the opportunity to interact with the Chief Imam as a result of her conversion, which gave her a tremendous feeling of fulfillment.

Award-winning Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene, sustained injuries on Sunday night after ramming his car into a tipper truck.
The accident occurred at CP, close to the DSTV office towards the Dzowulu traffic light in Accra.
According to the Editor for Modern Ghana news portal, Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri who witnessed the accident, he was right behind the musician's car when the accident happened around 11:30 pm.
He told Myjoyonline.com that he only noticed it was the musician in the car with one male passenger when he went closer to offer assistance.
“I was behind him, and so I was the first person to rush to his rescue. I arranged for a vehicle to convey him together with one person onboard to the UGMC hospital.”
