Asamoah Gyan Officially Hangs His Football Boots At A Football Age Of 37
At the age of 37, Ghanaian forward Asamoah Gyan made his decision to retire from professional football official.
The former forward for Sunderland and Stade Rennes departs as Ghana's all-time leading scorer with 51 goals and the second-most caps.
According to a statement made public by Gyan, he decided to hang up his boots because he thought the moment was perfect.
Gyan last participated in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), more than four years after his last game for the national team.
The Black Stars, who were eliminated from the World Cup at the group stage last year, did not select the 37-year-old in their roster for that event, even though he was eager to feature for the Black Stars in a last dance.
