Dede Ayew Out As Squad For Mexico And USA Friendly Drops
For the forthcoming international friendlies against Mexico and the USA in October, Ghana coach Chris Hughton has selected a 23-man team.
Prior to playing the USA on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee, the Black Stars will play Mexico on October 13 at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
The Ghanaian skipper, who parted company with Nottingham Forest at the end of the previous season, has not been invited to the two games.
But Thomas Partey, an Arsenal midfielder, is back for the national squad after missing the AFCON qualifier against the Central African Republic last month.
Tariq Lamptey of Brighton & Hove Albion is another player who has returned to the team and has been playing time for the English team since his comeback from injury.
The list of names also includes Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams, the usual suspects.
The friendlies against Mexico and the United States will serve as a warm-up for Hughton’s preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which get underway in November.
Below is a list of Ghana’s whole team:
