, born on January 9, 1965, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He is best known for his remarkable career in the NBA despite being one of the shortest players in league history, standing at just 5 feet 3 inches tall.

Bogues played college basketball at Wake Forest University before being selected in the first round of the 1987 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets (now known as the Washington Wizards). Throughout his NBA career, he played for several teams, including the Charlotte Hornets, Golden State Warriors, and Toronto Raptors.

Notwithstanding his height disadvantage, Bogues was known for his incredible speed, quickness, and defensive skills. He was a fan favorite and gained widespread recognition for his ability to compete against much taller opponents. Bogues' tenacity and determination made him an inspiration to many aspiring basketball players.

After leaving the NBA, Bogues worked in real estate before becoming head coach of the Charlotte Sting in 2005. Despite lacking coaching experience, he led the team to a 14-30 record. In 2011, he became head coach of the United Faith Christian Academy boys' high school basketball team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Despite being offered a new contract, Bogues stepped down in 2014 to pursue other opportunities. In 2014, he was named the Charlotte Hornets' Ambassador. In 2018, Bogues invested in Ash & Erie, a clothing company for short men. In 2020, he was announced as an inductee to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. He founded the Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization to assist vocationally bound students with scholarships and develop community outreach programs for at-risk families.
