Muggsy Bogues, born on January 9, 1965, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He is best known for his remarkable career in the NBA despite being one of the shortest players in league history, standing at just 5 feet 3 inches tall.
Bogues played college basketball at Wake Forest University before being selected in the first round of the 1987 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets (now known as the Washington Wizards). Notwithstanding his height disadvantage, Bogues was known for his incredible speed, quickness, and defensive skills. In 2018, Bogues invested in Ash & Erie, a clothing company for short men. In 2020, he was announced as an inductee to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. He founded the Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization to assist vocationally bound students with scholarships and develop community outreach programs for at-risk families.
