After spending a considerable amount of time in the entertainment and sports industries, Lil Wayne has recently remembered meeting LeBron James for the first time while the young superstar was still in high school.

TNT met up with Weezy earlier this week to learn about King James' desire to connect with him during a gig in Ohio while he was on tour with Ja Rule, as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and the start of the NBA season.

The former Hot Boys rapper said that it was Slim, Birdman's brother, who first made James known to him and helped them get together in the early 2000s.

He started, “I was on tour with Ja [Rule], and I had a show in Ohio.”” When Birdman's elder brother Slim called, he said, ‘I have a player in Ohio.'” He wants to attend your performance. That would be him. Wayne is like a young Michael Jordan, I'm telling you.

“I'm thinking, ‘What? He played sports in high school. Is he even able to attend the show? I had to remind myself then that I was a high school student as well.

Wayne recalled that Juelz Santana, whose ironic true name is LaRon James, arrived at the performance that day and kept LeBron waiting outside for more than an hour.

“That dude was still downstairs in a suburban when I came downstairs. He carried around three or four friends,” Weezy said. “I thought, ‘This is the guy?'” I seem to recall that his arm was in a cast, and they were making sure it remained visible. It was what made me think, “Oh, he must be somebody.”

I'll never forget that he was having a blast. Both he and I can still recall that evening. It was a moment to remember.
