He played college at Michigan State and Copiah-Lincoln Community College before joining Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2017.
Sweat recorded 10.5 sacks in his first season and 12 sacks as a senior, earning All-SEC and All-American honors. In 2016, he left Michigan State and enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Sweat set a record for a defensive lineman running the 40 yard dash at the 2019 NFL Combine.
He was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, but it was later discovered to be a misdiagnosis. He signed a four-year contract worth $11.6 million in the 2019 NFL Draft.
