Sean McDermott is an American football coach from Omaha. Born on March 21, 1974, Sean, 49 is the head coach of the Buffalo Bills at the time of this writing. He started off as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2001.
From 2011 to 2016, he was the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. After joining the Bills in 2017 as head coach, McDermott took over as defensive coordinator in 2023.
The Buffalo Bills have improved under his leadership, making their first postseason berth since 1999, winning their division in 2020, and winning the division for the third time in the following season.
