With their breaths held in suspense, fans have been watching The Voice to see who would unseat reigning champion Gina Miles in a season where all five finalists were four-chair turns during the Blind Auditions.
We now know who won season 24 after the votes were counted: Huntley! The resident rock star of Team Niall, Ruby Leigh, beat out Team Reba’s teen bluegrass artist Ruby Leigh for the Voice title, and Team Niall’s Mara Justine took third place, Team Reba’s Jacquie Roar took fourth place, and Team Legend’s Lila Forde took fifth place. This marked coach Niall Horan’s second consecutive victory.
Who won The Voice 2023 ?
Huntley — who host Carson Daly dubbed “The Viking of The Voice” — wowed the coaches from the moment he stepped on stage and covered “She Talks To Angels” in the Blind Auditions, his raspy rocker voice earning him a four-chair turn.
Thanks to his daughter Stella, Huntley wound up under Niall’s care and, as Niall put it just before the results were read, the two of them forged “a great partnership.” Throughout the competition, Huntley was known for his massive range, his consistently solid performances, and yes, his flowing blonde locks. May he never cut them, not even an inch!
The 33-year-old dad from Fredericksburg, Va., impressed with the ease in which he covered some big songs, including Bon Jovi’s “Dead or Alive” in the Knockouts and Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go” in the semi-finals. Last night, after his second performance of the finale, Creed’s “Higher,” John Legend reiterated praise that he’s been giving Huntley all season long: The guy sings like a pro and like someone who should already be performing “beyond this show.” Huntley’s ability to blow the roof off the place won the hearts of the coaches from day one — and apparently the audience, too. In short, Huntley felt like a front-runner from the get-go.
Niall, like Kelly Clarkson before him, has now won his first two seasons as a coach on The Voice. Ahead of Huntley’s name being called, Niall promised his artist-turned-buddy that “win or lose, [they’re] going for a beer.” And now, after weeks of competition in which Huntley knocked out some great singers along the way, it’s safe to say that’ll be a beer well deserved.
