Born on August 23, 2000, Filip Cederqvist is a Swedish professional ice hockey winger who is presently a prospect for the National Hockey League (NHL) Montreal Canadiens, where he plays with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League (AHL). The Sabres selected him 143rd overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
He began his career with the Växjö Lakers in the 2018-19 season. He made his debut in the SHL, scoring 4 goals and 4 assists in 33 games. However, his second season was challenging as he struggled to replicate his rookie success. He experienced loan stints in the Allsvenskan with Almtuna IS and BIK Karlskoga.
In 2020, Cederqvist left the Lakers and signed a one-year contract with Tingsryds AIF. Unable to prevent Djurgårdens IF from suffering relegation to the Allsvenskan, he was signed by the Buffalo Sabres in June 2022. On 11 January 2024, he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for future consideration.
