Anthony Gobert, also known as The Go Show, was an Australian motorcycle road racer who achieved immense success as the youngest-ever World Superbike race winner at 19 years old. However, his career was disrupted by a personal struggle with drug abuse. In 2008, Gobert was charged with two counts of stealing after taking two $20 notes from a 70-year-old man and stealing a woman’s purse.
He was granted bail on the condition of surrendering his passport, reporting to police five times a week, and not entering central Surfers Paradise. In June 2019, Gobert was involved in an altercation at a restaurant and was followed home by a group of individuals who forced their way into his home, robbed him, and beat him with baseball bats.
Gobert was beaten beyond recognition, and in January 2024, he was reported to be receiving end-of-life care in Gold Coast, Queensland for an undisclosed illness.
