Before deciding to pursue a career in athletics, Ghanaian sprinter Benjamin Azamati disclosed that he played football at Legon Presbyterian Boys School and even tried out for Ghana’s U20 men’s football team, the Black Satellites as revealed in recent interview.
The gifted sprinter, who is currently recognized as one of Africa’s most promising athletes, revealed that he first thought about pursuing a career in football before deciding to concentrate on track and field. Advice from his Physical Education (PE) instructor at Legon Presec, where he attended secondary school, impacted this choice.
“In Koforidua, I even participated in tryouts with Ghana’s U20 men’s squad. Although I can play football very well, I thought track and field was a more individualized sport where I might succeed.”
“Thanks to my PE Masters at Legon Presec, who introduced me to athletics, I decided to give it a try. “Here I am now, holding a National Record,” Azamati remarked.
