In a recent interview on Starr Chart with Bola Ray, Ghanaian gospel artist Diana Antwi Hamilton shared an amazing story about how she found her musical gift.
She claims that at the age of seven, she became aware that she had a knack for singing. Diana went on to say that her confidence was greatly influenced by the support she received from her family, particularly from her aunts. She thought she was onto something exceptional because of their unceasing adulation.
She remarked, “I only realized I was singing when I was about seven years old, and you know when you’re singing and it sounds good in your ear.” Many adults sang, and I thought I could sing just as well as they did, if not better. When all of my aunts once told me that I could sing, I realized that I must be doing something right, she added.
Diana Hamilton’s love for music deepened, and she enthusiastically sought out chances to perform, whether at church, school, or at home. Her path as a singer began when she bravely sang in a church at the age of 13. This was made possible by Maa Tess, her aunt, who also served as her nanny, who encouraged her to sing despite her hesitation.
