Renowned sports reporter Bright Kankam Boadu of Pure FM Bright has shared details of his professional path in the media, including the obstacles he faced and pivotal events that molded it.
In an interview with Akoto Mansa Boadu on Asetena Pa, he talked about his early years, his love of journalism, and his hardships prior to being well-known.
In the interview, Akoto Mansa congratulated him on winning Sports Journalist of the Year at the 49th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards, which took place on January 24, 2025, in Accra.
He acknowledged that the honor was a humbling experience that reinforced his commitment to sports writing.
Boadu said that his route was obvious from the start and attributed his passion for journalism back to his early years.
My passion was journalism. He disclosed, “I was supposed to be on the radio as a journalist and broadcaster.
He first became interested in broadcasting while attending Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, where he was an enthusiastic participant in Teen Beat, a youth radio program.
He became well-known as the show’s Master of Ceremonies, which eventually led to GTV appearances, which strengthened his love for the art form.
But it wasn’t an easy ride for him. Due to a mishap, he arrived a day late for his Fontom from TV audition after high school.
Nevertheless, he won a seat as the host of Conscious Vibes after impressing the producers with his performance during the rescheduled audition, and that was it.
