“Artists Should Show Some Consideration To Event Organizers” – Nana Romeo Pleads

On February 4, 2025, Nana Romeo expressed his annoyance with what he views as exorbitant fees charged by certain Ghanaian performers for their appearances at events in an interview with Zionfelix.

According to the media personality, KiDi’s management provided a quotation of $20,000 for an upcoming UK gig, exclusive of travel and lodging expenses.

“Speaking with a woman from KiDi’s camp, I was informed that the total cost would be $20,000, excluding airfare and lodging. Just think about the costs of lighting and sound. Other artists with whom I spoke also cost me $18,000, which covers everything, but that is excessive as well. The unpleasant aspect is that they arrive with a manager and an assistant. How might we turn a profit from the actual concert? Nana Romeo revealed.

In the diaspora, where crowds are frequently smaller and less likely to fill venues, he voiced worry that such exorbitant prices discourage event organizers.

How often do you hear of a Ghanaian performer that can pack an auditorium while they’re in the UK? Not many people show up to show their support, he asked.

I am aware that artists have a brand, but occasionally they have to show consideration for the organizers. He stated that UK event planners are becoming less interested in hiring Ghanaian performers,
he added.

Nana Romeo urged musicians to adopt a more well-rounded strategy in order to guarantee the longevity of Ghanaian music performances overseas.
