The Goaso Traditional Council Bans Valentines Day Celebration

Goaso

As part of preparations for the one-week remembrance of the late Paramount Chief, Nana Kwasi Bosomprah, the Goaso Traditional Council has declared that public Valentine’s Day festivities inside the Goaso traditional region are prohibited.

Having ruled for 17 years, the late leader died in December 2024 following a protracted illness. Kyeame Antwi Boasiako, Otumfuo’s linguist, formally reported his passing on December 16, 2024, at a meeting of the Asanteman Council.

In a public statement, the Council stressed that hotel accommodations, noisy parties, and other Valentine’s Day activities are completely forbidden.

“Celebrate Valentine’s Day in your room in silence if you want to. No loud festivities, no Valentine’s Day gatherings.” Anyone found to be violating these regulations will be subject to harsh penalties,” the Council said.

The council claims that the prohibition is necessary to maintain harmony and deference while the community grieves the passing of the chief.

“We are grieving. While some of us celebrate, others cannot grieve,” the speaker continued.

To commemorate his legacy and services to the Goaso Traditional Area, traditional leaders, dignitaries, and community people are anticipated to attend the one-week observance of Nana Kwasi Bosomprah’s demise.
