Ghanaian businessman and entrepreneur Daniel McKorley, often known as McDan, has counseled young people to stop giving to charities when they are unable to support themselves.
These remarks were given by McDan during the Kwame Nkrumah University Science and Technology (KNUST) McDan Youth Connect event.
During the three-day McDan Youth Connect event, the business tycoon traveled to Kumasi to motivate students at three universities in the city. Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Kumasi Technical University (KTU), and KNUST were among the universities.
In his speech, McDan strongly advised the students to think about their own growth before lending a helpful hand to others.
He said:
Let me advise you. To be able to help somebody, help yourself first. That is rule number one. Don’t go and be doing charity if you have not been able to build yourself.
