New measures that remove the contentious Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), the 10% betting tax, the emissions levy, and other associated levies have received formal approval from President John Mahama.
On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the President signed the laws, thus ending the tax collection process. This comes after Parliament passed the measures unanimously on Wednesday, March 26.
President Mahama’s campaign pledge to eliminate the E-Levy within his first 120 days in office has been fulfilled.
The National Health Insurance Bill, the Public Financial Amendments Bill 2025, the Public Procurement Amendment Bill 2025, the Value Added Tax Amendments Bill, the Petroleum Revenue Management Amendment Bill, and steps to uncap the GETFund are among the other legislation that the President has approved.
