True basketball icon, Bob Cousy is widely known for his remarkable career as a point guard for the Boston Celtics from 1950 to 1963 is the stuff of legends. On August 9, 1928 in New York City, Robert Joseph Cousy was born, Hence he is 95 years old and the oldest living member of the NBA Players Association , who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump in 2019.
Bob Cousy a.k.a “The Houdini of the Hardwood,” a 13-time NBA All-Star and 1957 NBA Most Valuable Player, played as a point guard for the Boston Celtics from 1950 to 1963. He was a key player in the Celtics dynasty, winning six championships during his 13-year tenure. Cousy was the NBA assists leader for eight consecutive seasons and is considered the first great point guard of the NBA.
As a collegiate, Bob earned a scholarship to the College of the Holy Cross and led the Crusaders to NCAA Tournament berths. After his playing career, he served as a college basketball coach and an NBA head coach for the Cincinnati Royals. Cousy was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1971 and was named to the NBA 25th Anniversary Team, NBA 35th Anniversary Team, NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team, and NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
