Jamaal Bowman (born April 1, 1976) is an American politician and educator serving as the U.S representative for New York’s 16^th congressional district since 2021.  Justice Democrats recruited Jamaal Bowman to run for the 16th congressional district in New York, represented by Eliot Engel.

Bowman, inspired by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s 2018 campaign, supported anti-poverty and anti-racist policies. With no Republican challengers, Bowman won the primary with 84% of the vote, making him the ninth-most Democratic district in New York City. The district’s heavily Democratic nature and lack of Republican opposition ensured Bowman’s victory.

In terms of his Education,Bowman attended Sayreville War Memorial High School, where he played football as a collegiate . He earned a Bachelor of Arts in sports management from the University of New Haven in 1999 and later a Master of Arts in counseling from Mercy College and a Doctor of Education in educational leadership.
