Born in 1995 in Alpharetta, Georgia, He excelled in both academics and football at Alpharetta High School. He received a scholarship to play college football at the University of Tennessee, where he was a starting quarterback and a dual-threat quarterback.
In the 2017 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round and served as a backup quarterback.
In 2019, Dobbs was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He participated in an internship at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Dobbs signed with the Cleveland Browns and later the Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, and Minnesota Vikings.
He led the Cardinals to their first win of the season and became the first quarterback in NFL history with consecutive three-touchdown games for different teams. He was waived by the Jaguars in 2020.
