Ghanaian former professional footballer, Asamoah Gyan was  born on November 22, 1985, in Accra, Ghana. He is a highly accomplished Ghanaian professional footballer, who played as a striker and captained the Ghana national team.

Gyan's career took off when he joined the Ghana Premier League club, Liberty Professionals, showcasing his exceptional talent and goal-scoring abilities.

In 2003, Gyan made his move to Europe and signed with the Italian club, Udinese. Although his time at Udinese was brief, it provided the foundation for his future success.

He then went on to play for French club Rennes, where he continued to impress with his remarkable goal-scoring record.

One of the most significant achievements in Gyan's career came during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He became a national hero by scoring crucial goals for the Ghana national team, leading them to the quarterfinals and making history as the first African team to reach that stage.

Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan began his career at Ghanaian club Liberty Professionals, where he played 16 league matches and scored 10 goals. He later signed for Udinese in 2003 and spent two years on loan at Modena. Gyan was signed by Lokomotiv Moscow for US$10.5 million, but was eventually sold to Lokomotiv Moscow. He signed an improved five-year contract extension to stay at Udinese until June 2012.

Gyan played 48 times for Rennes, scoring 14 goals. He became a well-known goal-scoring figure at Rennes, scoring 13 league goals in the 2009-10 season. In 2010, he signed for Premier League club Sunderland on a four-year deal for £13 million. He scored twice on his debut against Wigan Athletic and scored twice against Stoke City.

In 2011, Gyan left Sunderland on a season-long loan to Al Ain FC, earning up to £6 million per season. He signed a five-year contract with Al Ain in 2012, earning over £6m per season. In 2015, he left Al Ain and joined Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG.

Gyan has also played for Turkish club Kayserispor, Indian Super League side NorthEast United, and Kayserispor. He was officially released from the club in 2020 due to an injury.

 He returned to Ghana to join Legon Cities in November 2020, playing in the 2021 Ghanaian FA Cup Round of 64. Gyan announced his retirement in June 2023.
