 Lucic began his NHL career in 2007 when he was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round. He quickly made a name for himself as a physical and skilled player, known for his hard-hitting style and scoring ability. Lucic played for the Bruins for eight seasons, winning the Stanley Cup with them in 2011.

He has also played for the Los Angeles Kings and the Edmonton Oilers before joining the Flames. Lucic represented Canada in ice hockey and won a gold medal in the 2023 Finland/Latvia World Championship. He was named team captain for the 2007 Super Series against Russia.
